This stand alone workshop will be held at Analog Shop at 16 New Street, Lancaster, just down from Ethel & Em, on Saturday, 7th June from 9.30am-12.20pm
This beginner's class will help you learn to knit and grow your skill set and confidence if you already have the basics. We will give you the basic skills to tackle projects - such as a hat or garment, and not just another pesky rectangle or square. In this session, you will learn basic techniques such as casting on and off and your knit and purl stitches. If requested, we can also look at increasing and decreasing stitches to help you smoothly transfer from dishcloths to more advanced projects that require shaping - this seems like one of the biggest barriers for folks to move on from simple back and forth projects.
This workshop will be led by Melanie McKay, avid crocheter, knitter and owner of Ethel & Em. Melanie has herself been through the dishcloth journey and was stuck on squares before gaining confidence and moving on to bigger and more complex projects. Now an experienced knitter she is ready to pass on what she's learned, and help fellow knitters on their fibre journey. Melanie will be assisted by Diane, a lifelong knitter, and one of the amazing people to give Melanie the confidence to go beyond the square!
Suitable for complete beginners and nervous novices! Please let us know ahead of time if you are a lefty - this may matter!
Your yarn and a pair of birch circular needles are included in the price. A 10% discount is available on the day for merchandise available in store and future workshops.
Finally, you can keep up to date on our regular Knit, Knot & Natters each week, where you can grow your circle of fibre friends and continue on your crafty journey with likeminded people.
