This workshop will be held Saturday 14th June 2024 from 9.30am-12.30pm at Ethel & Em, Lancaster. (Please advise if any issues with stairs as this may be held above the shop).
Always wanted to learn to crochet, but never got round to it? Confused by US versus UK terminology? Think it is all about doilies and granny squares? Well, it is - and so much more! Take some of the mystique away with our stand alone Learn to Crochet workshop.
In this three hour session you will learn how to make a granny square - the foundation motif for so many projects from handbags to gladrags (well, sweaters, trousers, cardis, etc.), pillows and throws - you will be able to make these things and so much more. As well as the basic chain and slip stitches you will learn to master the treble (US double - more about that on the day!) while creating your first crochet piece.
This class will be run by Melanie McKay, owner of Ethel & Em and craft club facilitator at Escape 2 Make with a view to teaching you basic techniques and giving you the confidence to start you off on your own exciting crochet journey.
Suitable for complete beginners and nervous novices! Please let us know ahead of time if you are a lefty - this may matter!
Your yarn, a book, and a crochet hook are included in the price. A 10% discount is available on the day for merchandise available in Ethel & Em.
Finally, you can keep up to date on our regular Knit, Knot & Natters each week, where you can grow your circle of fibre friends and continue on your crafty journey with likeminded people.
